Dickinson named associate director of baseball sports medicine

HOUSTON –Alex Dickinson has been added to the University of Houston baseball staff as Associate Director of Sports Medicine, Head Baseball Coach Todd Whitting announced Friday.

“I am thrilled to announce that Alex Dickinson will be our new athletic coach for Houston Baseball,” Whitting said. “She brings a wealth of sports medicine knowledge and expertise and has come highly recommended by her peers and other coaches across the country. Her enthusiasm and experience in college and professional baseball is a perfect fit for our program. “

Dickinson comes to Houston after two years at Texas State where she worked with women’s baseball and volleyball.

Prior to coming to Texas State, Alex completed a Rehabilitation Sports Training Residency with Texas Health Sports Medicine in Fort Worth, TX. She provided treatment and rehabilitation for TCU athletics with an emphasis on aerial athletes. Additionally, she coordinated and directed a 3D motion capture system to evaluate pitching mechanics for baseball pitchers.

Prior to residency, Alex worked several seasons with the triple A affiliates of the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets as an assistant athletic trainer. She provided daily injury assessment and treatment to baseball’s top prospects and elite athletes.

She first moved to Texas to get her Masters of Science degree in athletic training from Texas A&M. Prior to graduating in 2018, Alex worked with Texas A&M baseball and women’s soccer.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Texas Athletic Training Board. She also earned a certification as a corrective exercise specialist.
