No, it’s not April Fool’s Day – the 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are now open for entries. Given the nature of the contest, I would say the date is very fitting, and starting today you can submit your own fun wildlife images.

The lovely people behind this contest have a great way to entice you to join them. They’ve shared never-before-seen photos from the 2021 contest with DIYP that will inspire you to snap some pics or search your archives for hilarious images. Or if nothing else – they’ll make your day brighter, and we sure all need them at the end of the work week.

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have been around for seven years now (time flies! Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam co-founded them in 2015 with the aim of bringing smiles to people’s faces while promoting the conservation of wildlife and their habitats in through a humorous and positive message If you ask me, they certainly did a great job.

Since its inception, the competition has supported various sustainable conservation organizations. In 2022, Comedy Wildlife is partnering with the Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN), a UK charity that supports conservation leaders working in their home countries in the Global South. Over 29 years, he has funneled £19m to more than 200 conservationists in 80 countries.

If you decide to submit your images, here are the categories you can submit to:
